Stephen O’Bent

Stephen O’Bent (he/him) is a trombonist, conductor, composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, and is thrilled to be returning to MAGFest. From 2016-2025, Stephen was a professor at DigiPen Institute of Technology, where he taught courses in video game music history, Western music history, choir, conducting, low brass, and orchestration. He was a featured trombone soloist in the soundtrack to the 2024 Nintendo release Mario vs. Donkey Kong. As a performing member and musical director of The Flying Karamazov Brothers, the critically-acclaimed vaudeville troupe, Stephen has performed in major commercial theaters in London, Madrid, Chicago, and New York. He has played on five continents and appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America, and the BBC. Stephen lives in Seattle with his wife Shannon, dog Ari, cat Rigby, and two small kiddos that he can usually still beat at Mario Kart.
